If you are like me, you often want to have as much management capabilities as possible when managing your Virtual Machines (VMs) on Proxmox. Thankfully, this is possible by using one small and nifty command.

If you are like me, you often want to have as much management capabilities as possible when managing your Virtual Machines (VMs) on Proxmox.

Thankfully, this is possible by using one small and nifty command.

Prerequisites

The only real prerequisite is to ensure that within Proxmox you have "QEMU Guest Agent" enabled.

Command

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install -y qemu-guest-agent

After this has been installed on your VM, it is required that you shutdown the VM and then start it again. This will register the guest-agent with Proxmox.
